This can change everything for you. Here is my thought of how I see myself:
“I see myself so highly favored that others’ outlook on my life does not impact me. The data from research and statistics, or how I’m treated does not impact me. I see myself as a field that is giving and growing. I see myself as kind, successful, nice, welcoming, motivated, appreciated, and loved.”
Isn’t that powerful? Seeing yourself as “highly favored,” as a “field that is giving and growing.” It is like building an inner shield, a fortress of self-worth that protects you from the negativity that the world sometimes throws our way. Let’s continue this discussion.
The World’s View vs. Your View
As women, we often face immense pressure to fit into narrow boxes. Research shows that societal ideals and media portrayals can lead to dissatisfaction with our bodies and a distorted self-image. We are bombarded with unrealistic beauty standards, and studies show that this can lead to low self-esteem and even mental health issues. We internalize these messages, feeling inadequate if we do not measure up.
But here’s the secret: their view does not have to be your view.
Overflowing with Your Best Self
Here is another thought:
“It is not my obligation to be sure others receive what I give but it is my obligation to overflow with the best of me.”
It is not about forcing yourself to give; it is about nurturing your inner self so that your best qualities naturally overflow. When you see yourself as kind, successful, welcoming, motivated, appreciated, and loved, those qualities radiate outward. You give from a place of abundance, not obligation.
How You See Yourself Dictates How You See Others
This is where it gets really interesting. Another thought of mine.
“How you see yourself dictates how you see others. If you see yourself in overflow, you want others to live out of their overflow. You want others to have what you have.”
When you operate from a place of inner abundance, you naturally want the same for others. You lift them up, you inspire them, you want them to experience the same overflow.
Protecting Your Overflow
And finally, this thought:
“When others are around you, they should feel lifted (if they are in a place to receive). Regardless if they receive what you give, there is no wasting for you. They do not take your energy, your time, your resources, your happiness, your joy, or your peace, because you had extra to give. You are living from your overflow. “
It is recognizing that your wellspring of self-worth is not a bottomless pit. You can give freely.
Practical Steps to Build Your Overflow
So, how do we cultivate this “overflow”? Here are a few practical steps, drawing from research and wisdom:
- Practice Self-Compassion: Acknowledge your imperfections and remember that everyone makes mistakes.
- Challenge Negative Thoughts: When you catch yourself thinking negatively, challenge those thoughts. Are they based on facts or assumptions? Replace them with positive, constructive ones.
- Embrace Your Strengths: Acknowledge your accomplishments and allow yourself to feel proud of them.
- Build a Support Network: Surround yourself with positive, supportive people who uplift and encourage you.
- Set Boundaries: Do not be afraid to say “no” to things you do not want to do. Protect your time and energy.
You Are the Field
Remember that image of yourself as a “field that is giving and growing.” You are fertile ground, capable of nurturing incredible things. Water that field with self-love, cultivate it with positive thoughts, and protect it from the weeds of negativity.
You are worthy, you are capable, and you are loved. Let that truth overflow.
